HOW MANY TIMES CAN A DEBPT COLLECTOR CALL YOUR HOME? , I HAVE RECIEVED 3, SOMETIMES 5 A WEEK FROM THIS GROUP, FOR A LONG TIME I TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN WHY I WAS BEHIND AND WOULD TRY TO MAKE UP PAYMENT THAT I AM BEHIND WITH, BUT ITS $1000 A MONTH AND I HAVE HAD A DROPP IN INCOME 62%, IN THE MEANTIME I HAVE CONTINUED TO PAY THE MONTHLY PAYMENTS

My debt was turned over to a law firm for collections. I have asked them not to call my job and they continue to call. What are my rights? Also, can they take me to court for collections?

about 2 years ago now i had my car clamped, i phoned up to try and get my car, 350gbp was the charge to get my baby back, this is what i did and it cost me a total of nothing in the end,
after trying to reason with a guy who was not in any mind to be reasonable and quite threatening on the phone and in person to, so i made the payment to the clamping company,(using my credit card) i then got in my car and drove off there property and down the road where i pulled over in a lay-bye, i then phoned the credit card company and informed them that a transaction has just been taken from the account for 350 and this payment was taken with menace, i got full money back and my car at a total cost cost of nothing, you have to use the words taken with menace, the card company then stops the payment and investigates the clamping company.
i just sat here wondering if this same principal could work with collectors that come menacing at peoples doors, if it does then i am sure the investigation that pursues them wont be to good for business, headlines like… Debt Company Menace People Into Paying..wont go down to well for them or any other company that use underhand tactics and practices. just a thought

Credit collectors are harassing us! Our son presumingly owes a debt, he doesn’t live with us. The other night we were away from home and my young son was with a sitter when someone rang the doorbell. They were told not to answer door to unknown visitors. The collector preceeded to bang on the door hard, and constantly ringing the doorbell. They also shined a huge spotlight on our house. This went on for 30-40 min. We returned shortly after they left to a traumatized son. We called the police because at this time we still didn’t know who they were. The officer informed us they were no where around anymore. Last night we were home and they returned. This woman came to the door ringing and pounding, my husband opened the door and he asked what she wanted and she asked for our son. My husband informed her he did’nt live here and mentioned the incident from the previous encounter. She persisted. We shut the door, she screamed, banged, ringed and then went to all our nieghbors!

Hello, 4years ago my ex husband bought a car and the car dealer had me go primary for his loan which I never fully understood now we are divorced he kept the car when we split and i have married again and a debt collector came knocking at my door wanting to serve me documents under my old married name to do with this car loan, I told him this is not my name any more and never took the documents What Happens Now??? Was I right to send him away???

A creditor has called my work 2 times yasterday with the threat of wage garnishment. Are they allowed to call you at work and how can i stop them?

Hello,a debt collections company have rang me, I live with my father in his house, my daughter owes some money who these debt collecters are trying to retrieve, I dont know how they got this address, they say if i dont pay this money then they are going to black list my father’s house, they said that my daughter took on the agreement 4 years ago and she lived at this address. she has never lived here, Please I need some Help, I have phoned citisens advice already,they said they cannot make me pay, or black list dads house, the debt company said the next time I hear from them will be from the courts please help me. my father is 83 i have not told him as he would be worried sick

I would recommend that you seek professional legal help. But keep all your conversations in writing and any communication/letter/notice/payment from the 2003 settlement would tremendously help you.

Someone called Credit Resolutions Limited in Reigate are asking me for money for an account I closed and settled in 2003. I have not heard from them in at least four years. I checked and they do not have an office in Reigate but in Halifax. I have this closed five years ago. I have not even had any contact in over four years. I am too sick to get into this now. What can I do? I do not even owe the money and it is over five years ago in any case! How do I get rid of these people?

I contacted a creditor to settle a debt and made an offer of a payment plan. The creditor started asking me questions about my employment and I told him he could not contact my employer or contact me at work. He told me he just needed the information to fill out the computerized payment application. He then proceeded to contact my employer, telling him he was a creditor, and faxed him a form with my social security number on it, asking him for additional information about me. What can I do about this and to whom could I register a complaint about this? Thanks.
