Repairing Bad Credit

Repairing your credit can be a tedious work but it can save you hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars. First you need to get you credit report from all the three bureaus. Analyse the three reports and make a list of all the items you think are questionable and shouldn't be there.

Write a letter to the bureaus disputing all the items you think are questionable. Include copies of documents supporting your claim. Wait for thirty days or so and follow up with the bureaus. They should also forward your claim to the agency/organization that provided the information you are disputing. If the agency/organization fids that the information was in fact inaccurate then, it must notify all the three credit bureaus. After the investigation is complete the bureau will provide you the results in writing and also provide you with a free credit report if there were any changes. If the dispute doesn't resolve then you can ask the bureau to include a statement of dispute in your file. Keep all your correspondence with the bureaus in a safe place so if in future the items show up again you don't have to go through the whole procedure again.
